2. You will not get credit for the extra hours you put in, so don’t expect it.<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n <\/p>\n
You’re expected<\/em> to over perform, over deliver and make it all happen. \u00a0(And you’re probably also expected to manage the kids, the finances, the household, your intimate relationship, your family and friends and your physical health).\u00a0 Suck it up.\u00a0 If you’re in this for the praise and accolades, ya ain’t gonna like this ride called entrepreneurialism.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
3. Working harder does not equal more success.<\/span> <\/strong><\/h3>\n <\/p>\n
In corporate, the more hours you work, the more you get paid.\u00a0 In your own business, the more hours you work, the more hours you work (and the closer you are to burnout).\u00a0 The key to true business success is leverage.\u00a0 Leverage the people and talents around you.\u00a0 Leverage your knowledge.\u00a0 Leverage your connections.\u00a0 Leverage the hell out of everything you’ve got so that you can work smart<\/em>, not hard.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
4. Not everyone is going to like you.<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n <\/p>\n
I don’t care how adorable and kind and big-hearted you are, there are going to be people who simply do not like you.\u00a0 Don’t take this personally.\u00a0 I read somewhere that\u00a0it’s none of my business what other people think about me<\/em>.\u00a0 Quit trying to please everyone and stay true to your brand and your business.\u00a0 And when you screw up and someone doesn’t like you because of it, learn from it and move on.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
5. You will<\/em>\u00a0fail.\u00a0 Miserably.\u00a0 Over and over again.\u00a0<\/span> <\/strong><\/h3>\n <\/p>\n
Get used to it and quit beating yourself up for it.\u00a0 Failing is good<\/em>.\u00a0 Failures teach you, mold you and guide you.\u00a0 Embrace them!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
6. You have to believe the impossible is possible for this whole thing to work.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n <\/p>\n
You have to believe that money will come in when there is none.\u00a0 You have to believe that you can manage the roles of business owner, mother, father, sister, husband, wife, nephew, dog owner and yard-cleaner when just thinking about all those roles makes your head spin.\u00a0 You have to believe that you can change the world with what you’re bringing to the table! And when you believe\u2026it all clicks!<\/p>\n
