One morning you wake up.\u00a0 You reflect on your career so far and you think, “Damn, I’ve accomplished a lot more than I let myself take credit for.\u00a0 So why do I feel so empty?”<\/span><\/p>\n

Maybe you’re on zero because you’ve lost your passion, your inspiration, your edge, your driving force.\u00a0 Maybe you need an interruption.\u00a0 An agitation.\u00a0 DISRUPTION.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Oooh wait.\u00a0 Scary!\u00a0 Does that seem chilling?\u00a0\u00a0Career killing?\u00a0 Life limiting?\u00a0 Risky?\u00a0 Or like the only thing that might let you breathe deeply and sleep soundly again? \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You dream of a\u00a0kind of “real work” that makes you buzz with excitement every morning when you wake up, and go to bed feeling pleasantly exhausted and totally fulfilled, even when the day is a dark one (and there will be plenty of those).\u00a0 There’s no such thing as a\u00a0one-stop shop for “just add water” greatness.\u00a0 But there is a philosophy, a timbre, and infrastructure behind fluid authenticity and the alchemy of\u00a0model leadership. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This rhythm and serendipity\u00a0leads to great, complete, and sustainable businesses, shaped by fiery, real,\u00a0visionary leaders. And these\u00a0great and tall\u00a0leaps of faith are relatively simple to manifest, if the pieces are in place, and if you’re truly ready. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Want to fly?\u00a0 Consider these 4 steps for\u00a0structuring your disruption. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 1 :: CONTEMPLATE FAR-REACHING GREATNESS (GOOD, BAD, UGLY)<\/span><\/h3>\n

Root.<\/b>\u00a0 Find your center.\u00a0 How did you get to this place?\u00a0 What is good about that?<\/span><\/p>\n

Check in. \u00a0<\/b>Why do you need a change?\u00a0 What change do you need?\u00a0 What’s the catalyst?<\/span><\/p>\n

Save Yourself. \u00a0<\/b>\u00a0 Identify that the change you need is within YOU.\u00a0 Others can help, but only you can do it. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Play.\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0Get out of your head.\u00a0 Be still.\u00a0 Or be crazy.\u00a0 Do things that feel decadent and time consuming and do them just because they are fun.\u00a0 Be “unproductive”.\u00a0 You’re going to have some of the most creative brainstorms of your LIFE. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Re-Root. \u00a0<\/b>\u00a0Return to the beginning.\u00a0 Start anew.\u00a0 Be present and prepared. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 2 :: CREATE A MISSION STATEMENT<\/span><\/h3>\n

Who Are You?\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0Clarify what drives you.\u00a0 What makes you different from everyone else, but particularly those who do what you do, who have been where you have been, and who may be hitting the same wall.<\/span><\/p>\n

Where Are You?<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0Where is your head\/heart?\u00a0 Are you ready to catalyze this change? And where is your body located?\u00a0 What does your community support?\u00a0 Do you want to travel?\u00a0 Do\u00a0you want to work for yourself or be an authentic leader in someone else’s business?<\/span><\/p>\n

What Are You?\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0What is your role?\u00a0 What talents do you bring (see “Who Are You?”) .\u00a0 Is your role in the world clear and defined?\u00a0 Is that definition true at work?\u00a0\u00a0Where is your “edge” and how comfortable are you on that edge?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When Will You Be Ready?<\/b>\u00a0 Flying takes practice.\u00a0 Jumping or being kicked out of the nest is a strategy, but not always the first line.\u00a0 The best offense is a great defense. \u00a0 Know your moves.\u00a0 Make your map.\u00a0 Hunt like a ruthless pirate for what will fill your cup. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 3 :: \u00a0DECLARE YOUR PURPOSE<\/span><\/h3>\n

Say It. Then Say It Again. \u00a0<\/b>Recite your\u00a0purpose ten times in a row in a mirror.\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 A mirror.\u00a0 This is not easy, but it’s critical.<\/span><\/p>\n

Declare It. \u00a0<\/b>Announce\u00a0your disruption in person to at least 3 close\u00a0friends,\u00a0colleagues, and\u00a0confidantes.\u00a0 This requires you to commit.\u00a0 And to stay committed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Go Public.<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0Put it out to the world on a\u00a0blog, website, or a mission document\u00a0to your core audience.\u00a0 Now you have a working piece of infrastructure, born of a dream.<\/span><\/p>\n

Let it BREATHE.<\/b>\u00a0 Let the thing you have created\u00a0“be”.\u00a0 It needs a life. It has to be chastised and chased away.\u00a0 It has to come back with it’s tail between it’s legs. And you must let it lead a separate life from you.\u00a0 Your heart\u00a0and this manifesto cannot be one and the same.<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 4 :: STEP INTO THE ABYSS (DARK, BUT\u00a0SAFE.)<\/span><\/h3>\n

Architect Your Autonomy.<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0Build what you want and then take the first step.\u00a0 Work in bite sized pieces.\u00a0 Rome wasn’t built in a day.\u00a0 Sort out your risk tolerance first, and follow up by pushing the line as far as you can without paralyzing yourself.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Outline Your Differentiators.\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0There is no such thing as competition when you are creating your own interruption.\u00a0 No one else can or will interrupt the way you do.\u00a0 So what makes you, YOU?\u00a0 And how does that figure into your strategic structure?<\/span><\/p>\n

Prioritize What’s Next.<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a01. \u00a0 First YOU.\u00a0 Are you happy?\u00a0 Are you whole?\u00a0 Are you ready?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a02.\u00a0 Then your intellectual property.\u00a0 Write it, write again, and write some more. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a03.\u00a0 Now your audience\/marketplace.\u00a0 Get it out there and see what comes back.<\/span><\/p>\n

NOW… MANIFEST (AND MANIFEST-O). \u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Now take all of that goodness and free write your manifesto.\u00a0 Be a composer.\u00a0 Get comfy in that space where you lose time and simply succumb, because that’s the creation place, it’s practice-driven, and\u00a0it’s a meditation.\u00a0 Now that you have done the essential pre-work, your manifesto even in draft form\u00a0is nearly an executive summary.\u00a0 Let it clearly define\u00a0what you want to interrupt, why you want to interrupt, who you can interrupt, and how that interruption helps you, and the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

Guess what?\u00a0 You went from zero to PLAN.\u00a0 You have the map to the hidden treasure.\u00a0You have fresh salty sea air, and a boat gliding over the waves.\u00a0 You have space, time, room, and a healthy, quiet defiance.\u00a0 You have hope, inspiration, optimism, and the promise of new ports of call, and plenty of adventure. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You might change the world, or maybe just\u00a0yourself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, breathe.<\/span><\/p>\n
