Instead, she sees herself as a confident, capable leader. Gender doesn&#8217;t factor in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe big thing for me is I never think about myself as a female in business,\u201d the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/topic\/shark-tank\"><em>Shark Tank<\/em><\/a> star investor says. \u201cI\u2019m a <em>person<\/em> in business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s the \u201cwarm-blooded\u201d Shark\u2019s indefatigably optimistic, never-quit mindset that escalated her from a fledgling inventor to the owner of a $500 million retail sales empire in a few short years. The longtime QVChost is just about everywhere you look these days, from the cover of her own new book, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Invent-It-Sell-Bank-Million-Dollar\/dp\/0804176434\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Invent It, Sell It, Bank It!<\/em><\/a> (Ballantine Books, 2014) to the pages of <em>Town &amp; Country<\/em>, <em>Family Circle<\/em>, <em>InStyle<\/em> and, yes, <em>Woman\u2019s Day<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>But Greiner, who has 400-plus products and 120 patents under her belt, says being a woman has nothing to do with her astronomical success in business and on TV. Her gender never held her back, even if some men thought it should.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSure, I\u2019ve run into some chauvinistic people in my life, but I don\u2019t let that stop me,\u201d she says. \u201cI don\u2019t even consider it. If anything, I\u2019ll call it out or I\u2019ll go work with someone else.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Instead of biting your tongue and not asking for that raise you deserve (Hey, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/article\/238347\">that\u2019s what karma\u2019s for<\/a>, right, Mr. Nadella?), Greiner thinks women should stop thinking of their femaleness a potential roadblock to success.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t think of it at all,\u201d she says. \u201cIt can be a pitfall if you think, \u2018I\u2019m a woman and I\u2019m walking in the room and I\u2019m going to be treated different.\u2019 Or \u2018This is going to be harder because I\u2019m a woman.\u2019 Don\u2019t think like that. You\u2019re an expert at what you do. You\u2019re on a mission and you are a <em>person<\/em> in business. Not a woman in business.
