We Ain\u2019t Superwomen. \u00a0<\/b><\/b><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019m well aware there\u2019s a cape on my Biz Women Rock gal and that the entire Biz Women Rock brand portrays an ass-kicking business woman and so this statement is contradicting. \u00a0But, the truth is that none of us are Superwoman. \u00a0We simply cannot be 100% amazing at every little thing in our lives at all times. \u00a0And when you add motherhood to the mix of all the plates we are already juggling&#8230;a giant elephant gets thrown into that juggling act and somehow, we have to figure things out. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just before I gave birth to Sedona, I launched my course, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Facebook Groups Rock<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why the hell would you launch a course right before you had a baby, Katie?!<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> You might be asking yourself. \u00a0In addition to using my impending due date as a giant ticking clock that forced to complete and launch the course (worked wonders!), I truthfully didn\u2019t think my \u201cbaby hibernation\u201d would last that long. \u00a0\u201cI\u2019ll be ready to open the course back up within a few weeks of her birth!\u201d I would say to friends. \u00a0Oh, I was so ignorant. \u00a0Here she is, 5 months old and I\u2019m just opening the course back up!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>2. But At The Same Time&#8230;We ARE Superwomen!<\/b><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wait, what?! \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In those first few months of new motherhood, I heard myself say \u201cI can\u2019t\u201d a lot. \u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I can\u2019t concentrate on trying to get her to breastfeed AND keep up with my emails. \u00a0I can\u2019t post in my groups every day AND get dinner ready. \u00a0I can\u2019t concentrate on bringing in revenue while I feel like I\u2019m losing it every day. \u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And while all of these statements were true, at some point, I got sick of hearing myself say <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I can\u2019t<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u00a0So, I decided that I would stop.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I believe we have to simultaneously accept that we just can\u2019t do everything &#8211; thereby relieving us of the negative pressures and guilt of not being a good enough mom or business owner &#8211; and also believe beyond any doubts that we can do everything we\u2019ve ever dreamed. \u00a0That we <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">can<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> do it all. \u00a0This is where I draw my inspiration and motivation to keep going on. \u00a0And then, when those very real \u201ccan\u2019ts\u201d come up, I just quietly move them over to the side, take a break, forgive myself for the stuff that hasn\u2019t been done and keep on focusing on the dream. \u00a0When you\u2019re able to walk this very strange line, mompreneurship becomes magical&#8230;superhero like. \u00a0\ud83d\ude09 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>3. Focus Is The Only Way I Survive.<\/b><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Multi-tasking is horribly unproductive. \u00a0Focusing on one thing at a time is the ONLY way I can accomplish anything. \u00a0And it\u2019s more true now as a mompreneur than ever. \u00a0Both in business and in motherhood, there is a never-ending rainstorm of things to be done in order to move forward. \u00a0When we focus in on what needs to get done, create priorities and execute, the life of we mompreneurs (which is one of purpose and living in our dreams!) feels powerful. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At 3 months old, we put Sedona in daycare 3 times per week. \u00a0This wasn\u2019t an easy decision for me, as I really expected that I would be able to be super mommy <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AND <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">full time entrepreneur at all times (so, so ignorant). \u00a0\ud83d\ude09 \u00a0But daycare has been THE best teacher for me to focus. \u00a0On the days she\u2019s in daycare, I am fully zoned into my priorities for those days. \u00a0What used to take me ten hours to do, I now get done in five. \u00a0When she\u2019s at home, I\u2019m mom. \u00a0I\u2019m present with her and am not doing work. \u00a0Of course there are moments when I\u2019m not perfect at either of these, but FOCUSING like this has alleviated any guilt that I might have about not being a great mother and not being an awesome business owner. \u00a0It has, in fact, allowed me to be fully present for each of those part of my life that are so important to me that I feel like I\u2019m actually pretty darn awesome at each of them!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>4. The Sisterhood of Women ROCKS!<\/b><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In those first few weeks, it was texts. \u00a0Hundreds of text messages back and forth from a handful of the most trusted women in my life. \u00a0Guiding me through the unknown, telling me things were going to be okay, making me laugh, letting me cry&#8230;just being available for me. \u00a0After that, it was a dozen of local friends who happily rotated through my house while I attempted to work, sleep or get a break, not caring that I was moody or practically sprinting out of the house the moment they arrived. \u00a0Posting in my Business and Babies Facebook Group &#8211; filled with other mompreneurs &#8211; and getting feedback has been a tremendous gift. \u00a0And throughout it all, my mom, who has 6 kids of her own, has been my rock. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is an underlying fabric that connects all of us women and the support runs thick between our sisterhood. \u00a0The women who gave energy my way, whether it was babysitting, cooking for me or sending me kind words over a Facebook message just <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">got it<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u00a0We are in this together. \u00a0I\u2019ve got your back. \u00a0And you\u2019ve got mine. \u00a0No questions asked. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It gives me chills just to think about it. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During Podfest 2016, my friend Jessica Rhodes (owner of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Interview Connections)<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> made her way out to Florida. \u00a0She brought the whole family and was committed to breastfeeding her daughter Lucy throughout the conference. \u00a0She was staying off-site, so when she asked two of the other mompreneur attendees if she could use their rooms to pump during the conference, they happily said yes. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Which leads me to number 5:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">5. I Am In Love With Women!<\/b><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I have a newfound, DEEP respect for women in general, moms in particular and mompreneurs like crazy! \u00a0I truly had no idea how much was required of moms before I became one. \u00a0This is a very general statement to make (so feel free to exclude yourself if this doesn\u2019t fit), but holy crap! \u00a0We carry SO MUCH on our shoulders and do it gracefully (most of the time)! \u00a0Business calls, diapers, baths, strategy sessions, making dinner, doing laundry, doctors appointments, connecting with family, finances, calls with clients, daycare\/baby care, groceries, baby clothes, connecting with friends, websites, emails, webinars, podcasts, putting baby to sleep, reading, cleaning, taking care of pets, managing team, watching after our own health, watching after our spouse\u2019s health, keeping up with shots&#8230;<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">breathe<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8230;and that\u2019s not even including drinking the much-deserved glass of wine at the end of the week! \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seriously! \u00a0We do this! \u00a0Every. \u00a0Single. \u00a0Day! \u00a0<\/span><b>How much I adore you.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0How much I adore women as a whole! \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>6. ACTION. \u00a0That\u2019s All There Is.<\/b><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I wasted so much time on &#8220;feelings&#8221; and &#8220;working through stuff&#8221; and &#8220;contemplating&#8221; before I became a working mom. \u00a0I was always a quick-to-implement type of gal before, but my velocity to action is now like lightning. \u00a0There isn\u2019t any time for all that other shit!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This becomes glaringly obvious to me when I\u2019m on the phone with customer service. \u00a0Yesterday, I called Verizon Fios to buy their services and just a few words into the gentleman\u2019s sales pitch, I interrupted him, saying \u201clisten, you can stop right there. \u00a0I\u2019m going to be a customer. \u00a0Just give me the packages so I can choose which one is best and I can get set up asap.\u201d \u00a0LOL! \u00a0Poor guy. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Being a mompreneur is all about managing TIME&#8230;and getting to action <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fast<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> helps me have more of it for my daughter and my business!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">7. There Is Nothing Better Than My Daughter&#8217;s Laugh.<\/b><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019m only going to speak to her like an adult because I read that helps her development<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u00a0Yeah, this sounded like a great idea until Sedona started smiling. \u00a0Since then, I\u2019ve morphed into one of the goofiest people on earth, making myself look like a buffoon, just so I can make her smile and laugh! \u00a0Fart noises, raspberries, jumping up and down at the park&#8230;I\u2019ll do anything so I can see that girl\u2019s face light up&#8230;because nothing else makes ME light up more!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">8. It&#8217;s All About Scheduling. \u00a0EVERYTHING.<\/b><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schedule your life. \u00a0Batch your days. \u00a0Put things on the calendar so you do them. \u00a0Be 100% present for them. \u00a0Rinse and repeat. \u00a0\u2018Nuff said. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">9. Decide to Be Happy. \u00a0Every Day.<\/b><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I didn\u2019t feel the responsibility of providing material things for my daughter when she was born. \u00a0Sure, a house to live in is great, diapers are pretty necessary and formula is a must. \u00a0But, my subconscious felt a deep urge to provide for my daughter in other ways. \u00a0To make sure she saw <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">love<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u00a0To make sure she saw <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">happiness<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u00a0To make sure she saw <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">beauty<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u00a0To make sure she saw <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">gratitude<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u00a0And I knew that I needed to BE THE PERSON who embodied these qualities in order for her to really get the lesson. \u00a0So, I decided to be happy. \u00a0Every single day. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now, I\u2019m a happy person in general, but I can admit that pre-baby, I allowed whatever was going on in my life to determine my demeanor. \u00a0If I had a stressful day in business, I was angry and pissed and moody all day. \u00a0If Chris and I had a fight, I would remain angry or sad all day long. \u00a0Not anymore. \u00a0I deal with the emotion required in the moment and then return to happy. \u00a0Because she\u2019s watching. \u00a0\ud83d\ude09<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">10. Our Health is Where It All Begins.<\/b><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A superficial decision early on to lose my baby weight somehow evolved into a pure understanding that keeping my health on track is THE core of my entire life. \u00a0It\u2019s what makes everything else work. \u00a0Period. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When my daughter turned 6 weeks old, I worked out for the very first time. \u00a0Since then, I\u2019ve lost all 30 pounds of my baby weight and then some. \u00a0More importantly than the weight, I\u2019m in love with working out again and clean eating happens more often than it ever has. \u00a0And the thing I\u2019ve discovered on my own health journey is that there is NO WAY I would survive this mompreneur thing if I didn\u2019t make my health a priority. \u00a0End of story. \u00a0I always snuffed at the \u201cskinny gals\u201d who would preach this, while I was shouting how I was too busy building my business to make healthy dinners or to workout as much as I should. \u00a0But now I get it. \u00a0I totally get it. \u00a0My healthy body drives everything else; my attitude, my energy, my productivity&#8230;even my goofiness. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Have more lessons you&#8217;d like to add? \u00a0Join our private Facebook Group by opting in to the right and get access! \u00a0Come share with us in there what lessons you&#8217;ve learned! 1.
