What Are You So Afraid Of?
Fear. You’re smart enough to know that this little devil inside of you is the core reason behind almost every single “low” moment you’ve had in your business.
Fear of not enough money.
Fear of not being “successful” enough.
Fear of not being loved.
Fear of not being enough.
Fear of failure.
Fear of embarrassment in the public eye.
And even though I’ve learned to dance really well with fear over the past 9 years of my entrepreneurial journey, I’m still amazed at how it can show up and how quickly it can infiltrate my thoughts.
The other day, I was having a low moment. A day where I felt completely frozen and frustrated because I wasn’t where I was “supposed” to be in relation to the awesome strategic plan I had created in January.
Now, I know I preach a lot about having grace for yourself and that things are never going to go 100% according to plan. I preach this so loudly, in truth, because I need to hear the message myself over and over again! Which means that even though I “get it” intellectually, there are moments when I don’t embody it.
Sometimes I’m just really hard on myself.
Sometimes I judge the hell out of what I’m doing.
Sometimes all I focus on is THE GAP between where I am and where I want to be.
Hey, I’m human and always a work in progress.
Back to the low moment…
My hubs knew I was down. So, he came into my office, sat down lovingly next to me and asked me a question that went straight to my heart.
“What are you so afraid of?”
My response shocked the hell out of me…
“I’m afraid of living small, of not living up to my full potential.”
And all of a sudden, my low moment made so much sense and the weight that it carried completely dissipated.
Because I GOT that this fear is totally irrational.
And once I got that, once I started itemizing all the ways that I DO live a big life (according to my definition of BIG), all that fear was gone.
And I could easily get back to showing up everyday and doing what I love.
…for my daughter
…for my husband
…for my family
…for my private clients
…for my Mastermind participants
…for YOU!
Sometimes, it takes some digging to get to the heart of our FEAR so we can move past it and get ourselves back into purposeful action again.
So…
WHAT ARE YOU SO AFRAID OF RIGHT NOW?
- Why are you hesitating on some of the strategies you said you’d implement?
- Why are you having a low moment?
- Why do you continue to put a big project on the back burner?
- Why are you not rolling out a program you’ve been thinking about for a long time?
Taking the time to get intimate with the FEARS that arise along your business journey is one of the most important actions you can take! Because doing so will save you tons of TIME, ENERGY and MONEY as you get to the heart of why you’re showing up the way you are (or not showing up) in your business!
The kicker is that once you can identify the fear, you realize it’s irrational. Or you realize that you need to do some deeper work to unravel it and release it of its power.
And that is the magic.
Because putting that FOCUS ON YOUR FEARS will allow you to find true BLISS on your entrepreneurial journey.
To appreciate exactly where you are.
To be grateful for everything you have.
To have patience for all you’ve yet to accomplish or experience.
To GET that you are SPECIAL and POWERFUL and a true LIGHT in this world.
And what a difference it makes when you show up in THAT GLOW rather than in fear.
Honoring the light in you,
Katie
PS: As a coach and business strategist, there are many times my clients show up completely frozen with fear (it’s a guarantee in this journey!). So, instead of diving into how-to strategy (that will do absolutely NO GOOD in those moments), I take them through exercises and conversations that get to the heart of their fear so they can move into EMPOWERED ACTION!
