Biz Women Wednesday: Meet Jen Poley

It’s time to meet another amazing business woman in the BWR community… Everyone meet Jen Poley, a self-taught knitter of 3 1/2 years and founder. owner of Hattitude, a company that  started with Jen just wanting to learn how to knit a beanie. Within 6 months of learning how to knit, Hattitude was started. Jen has an intense passion for fashion and knitting and has  no inventory as all the items are custom and made-to-order.  In the past 2 years, Jen has had her lines in multiple boutiques, all in the Seattle area. With or without a Hattitude Jen would be knitting almost daily.

One of Jen’s biggest accomplishments was knitting for children battling cancer. She was contacted by a church that wanted $1,000 in hats for a local children’s hospital and has been asked for 3 years now to donate to her local zoo’s auction. There are two breast cancer auctions that Jen donates to each year and in 2012, was asked by Nordstrom to meet with their buyers at the headquarters. She went, they loved her stuff and wanted it, but chose to not go that route because her dream is not a huge factory with machines. The #1 thing that makes Hattitude the brand it is is that everything is hand-made and custom. In the fall of 2012, Jen was asked if she was interested in having her own boutique in Pike Place Market! As we all know, timing is everything and the timing just wasn’t right for Jen.
